The Latest News for Faded Farmhouse.....

Some things don't always work out the way we planned........the county will not give us a zoning permit for my space!  Thank God I rented it with the STIPULATION that I could pass zoning.  My daughter was just informed they won't approve the space for retail after all.

After we've moved 90% of our stuff into the space.....we can't open for business.  We had not started "fluffing" yet as we were still working on finishing pieces and hoped to open in January.

All is not lost though.  I will still pursue booth space and flea markets.....at least now I've built my inventory!  I'm also thinking about opening an etsy shop for the Faded Farmhouse.
I'm a TOTAL believer that everything happens for a reason and I'm not the LEAST BIT bummed about this.  It will be FORWARD MARCH from here on out!
Hoping you have a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year!

Slowly making progress

We are slowly getting things accomplished at The Faded Farmhouse!  We are waiting on some final permits from the city but we hope to open in January!

This is just a little vignette that I put together as I finished painting pieces today.

Some pieces are halfway finished, some not at all.

When I first looked at the space the carpet was glaring and ugly.  I was told I could remove it and use the tile floor underneath.  My son in law brought his tools ready to rip it out and discovered it is glued down.  So the carpet has to stay.
You see these amazing shutters he made for us?  My daughter found the wood on Craigslist and he built them for us.  He had 14 of these shutters made in no time at all.  We found some cute black hinges to put on them at the Habitat store.

I can't wait until we get them hung and get those curtains off the windows!
I'm looking forward to the day we open our doors!

The Start of my Journey

70 years ago this was my Norwegian Grandparents Dream..........

A faded farmhouse

Today it is my dream to honor all things soft, faded, simple.  To reflect on an era when time moved in slow motion and simple pleasures meant so much  To have a little shop in my little corner of the world to share all these treasures from years past....

I hope you will join me on my new journey........

Until Next time-
